Join us in the American Veterans Auditorium as we discuss The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder by David Grann. This book tells the true story of a British naval ship, the HMS Wager, that wrecks off the coast of Patagonia in 1741. The survivors, facing starvation, mutiny, and murder, grapple with questions of loyalty, leadership, and survival. The book explores the clash between imperial ambition and the human cost of survival, as the crew fractures into warring factions and engages in a battle for dominance on the desolate island. The survivors’ accounts of the events, and the subsequent court martial, highlight the complexities of truth and storytelling.
