November 10 – November 13

Mark your calendars! Big changes are around the corner at the Greenwood County Library System. We are joining SCLENDS – a statewide consortium of 22 county libraries and the State Library that has agreed to share resources and circulating materials.
What does this mean?
Our new catalog will be sclends.org. The catalog is what you use to search for books, place holds, and manage your account. For library staff, it’s what we use to locate and manage all materials and library accounts. It’s a pretty big deal.
How this will affect you, our loyal patrons?
Brace yourself! From November 10 – 13, all branches of the Greenwood County Library System will be closed and your access to the catalog, your library account, and digitial materials will be unavailable during most of this time. We understand that this may be frustrating for you, and honestly, it will be for us too.
How this will affect us, your favorite library crew
Everything is fine! [Hits panic button] Just kidding. We will be training for this and will reopen after training on Friday, November 14. Inevitably, there will be snags along the way. We ask that you bear with us as we get real-time experience with the new system.
After we reopen on November 14:
We will have access a new public catalog through SCLENDS.
Our website will temporarily transition to a simplified version. The address for our new site will be gwdlibrary.org. We’re currently working on a modern, redesigned website, which we expect to launch in late spring.
Checkout Histories:
As we transition to SCLENDS, your checkout history from our current system will not transfer. If you would like a copy of your checkout history from the past three years, you can submit an online request by Monday, November 3. We will send your history in a spreadsheet format. Fill out the Checkout History Request Form here: https://www2.youseemore.com/greenwood/comment.asp?loc=29
Please note: We will do our best to fulfill all requests, but due to potential high demand and time constraints, we may not be able to complete every request.
This project is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the South Carolina State Library.
